چکیده
Scattering characteristics of anisotropic cylindrical phase-gradient metasurfaces (MSs) with various helical Pancharatnam-Berry phase (PB-phase) coding are studied. The efficiencies the scattering field reduction circularly polarized (CP) waves in forward half-space is compared for three different MS models same PB-phase gradient azimuthal direction and gradients axial direction. conformally located on semi-cylindrical metallic polyhedral prisms. meta-particles form triple coupled split-ring resonators. Gradient Nonlinear Pancharatnam-Berry Metasurfaces.
We apply the Pancharatnam-Berry phase approach to plasmonic metasurfaces loaded by highly nonlinear multiquantum-well substrates, establishing a platform to control the nonlinear wave front at will based on giant localized nonlinear effects. We apply this approach to design flat nonlinear metasurfaces for efficient second-harmonic radiation, including beam steering, focusing, and polarization m...
متن کاملWideband, wide-angle coding phase gradient metasurfaces based on Pancharatnam-Berry phase
A new concept of the coding phase gradient metasurface (CPGM) is proposed, which is constructed using the phase gradient metasurface as the coding elements. Different from the previous coding metasurface (CM), both the coding sequences and gradient phases in the coding elements are designed to manipulate the electromagnetic (EM) wave for the CPGMs, and thus the manipulation will be more flexibl...
متن کاملThe Pancharatnam-Berry phase for non-cyclic polarization changes.
We present a novel setup that allows the observation of the geometric phase that accompanies polarization changes in monochromatic light beams for which the initial and final states are different (so-called non-cyclic changes). This Pancharatnam-Berry phase can depend in a linear or in a nonlinear fashion on the orientation of the optical elements, and sometimes the dependence is singular. Expe...
متن کاملBerry-phase effect in anomalous thermoelectric transport.
We develop a theory of the Berry-phase effect in anomalous transport in ferromagnets driven by statistical forces such as the gradient of temperature or chemical potential. Here a charge Hall current arises from the Berry-phase correction to the orbital magnetization rather than from the anomalous velocity, which does not exist in the absence of a mechanical force. A finite-temperature formula ...
متن کاملEnhancing the resolution of a near-eye display with a Pancharatnam-Berry phase deflector.
We report an electro-optic image shifter to enhance the resolution of display devices with a Pancharatnam-Berry phase deflector (PBD). The switching time of our PBD is less than 1 ms. Through synchronizing and computational factorization, we are able to double the display resolution for reducing the screen door effect. Such a thin and lightweight PBD image shifter can be easily integrated into ...
